S548 | Reviewing and Negotiating a Consulting Agreement

June 4, 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Description

Your prospective client has sent you their boilerplate contract to review and sign. Do you know what to look for? Good contracts protect both the client and the consultant; but too often, boilerplate contracts are very one-sided or they may have been written with a different type of work in mind. As consultants, we need to learn a few key legal concepts and become comfortable negotiating agreements that protect ourselves and our businesses. In this session participants will review and discuss: essential elements that should be included in every consulting agreement; conditions that should be warning flags; and how to propose and negotiate changes that can help protect us should something go wrong.

S599 | Mitigating "Head-Scratching" Slips, Trips and Falls - Shared Practices in Prevention

June 4, 4:30pm - 5:30pm

Description

Slips, trips and falls (STFs) can be the kryptonite to success in preventing injuries and illnesses. In 2013, STFs accounted for nearly 230,000 days away from work cases and 724 fatalities in the workplace. On the other hand, in 2014, more than 31,000 unintentional deaths occurred in homes and communities in the U.S. alone – the third leading cause. Join us in discussing the troubles in preventing STFs, as well as best practice strategies to prevent accidents you may have thought were otherwise unpreventable. Share your experience in developing policies or regulations, creating STF education and awareness, analyzing STF incidents, and preventing future occurrences.

However, due to the historic devastation of Harvey, the exact impact of the storm was greater than could be anticipated. What if a hurricane was approaching San Antonio today? Would we be ready? Join your colleagues and experts to draw up an emergency preparedness program for Safety 2018 in San Antonio!
