COMMUNITY SERVICE

ASSE Community Service – Give Back to San Antonio

Here is your chance to Pay It Forward! ASSE is providing conference attendees the opportunity to give back. With your donation and time, you will be helping abused and neglected children in the South Texas area, as well as helping homeless Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Please be generous, and donate your money and your time to these two worthy causes.

St. Jude’s Ranch for Children Texas

St. Jude’s Ranch for Children Texas cares for children and families who have been affected by trauma, abuse and neglect. This organization provides a family living environment, preserves the sibling bond, and supplies the tools to break the cycle of abuse. The ultimate goal is to help these youngest victims of trauma and abuse find forever family or achieve self-sufficiency. On-site at the conference, you will assemble summer kits which could include a beach towel, movie ticket, hygiene kit, pool toys, or a special item, game or toy for the children based on their wants/needs.

Assembly:
Sunday, June 3 from 1-5pm, Monday, June 4 from 10am-5pm or Tuesday, June 5 from 10am-3pm, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

Minimum $25 donation

Receipts: Available upon request- mailed from SJRC Texas after the conference.

Soldiers’ Angels

Soldiers’ Angels provides aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, their families and a growing veteran population. Volunteers assist veterans, wounded, deployed personnel and their families in a variety of unique and effective ways. “May No Soldier Go Unloved” encapsulates the motivation behind Soldier’s Angels.

On-site at the conference, you will assemble kits of travel-sized hygiene items to be distributed to homeless veterans and patients in VA Medical Centers.

Assembly: Sunday, June 3 from 1-5pm, Monday, June 4 from 10am-5pm or Tuesday, June 5 from 10am-3pm, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

Pitch for Safety – The Executive Elevator Pitch Challenge!

The eternal challenge in our profession is in refining our messages, making them actionable, and getting them heard over on the operations side of the fence. Part networking/part “hands on” workshop, you’ll get a chance to pitch your ideas to upper management – and get their candid feedback on how best to craft your message so it gets heard. At the Pitch, you’ll have the opportunity to do that live – literally get into an elevator with a senior executive and pitch your idea for improving workplace safety.

The Pitch is broken down into two parts:
Monday - Starting Pitch for Safety
Six senior safety leaders will mingle and listen to ideas for improving OSH in the workplaces – coaching you on how best to present your ideas to the C-Suite.
Tuesday - Final Pitch For Safety
It’s showtime! On day two, six “elevators” will be stationed in the lunch and learn area. Each elevator will have a senior operational executive inside. Step in and you’ll have two-minutes to present your idea and receive feedback – before the elevator stops.
