Spotting Safety Legal Land Mines

Caution Sign

OSHA’s landscape continues to evolve, whether its recent changes in areas such as recordkeeping, increased penalties, post-accident drug testing, whistleblower investigations and temporary employees, or leadership changes underway in the new administration. Many of these changes present employment law landmines that we, as OSH professionals, need to recognize so we can help our employers strategically navigate to avoid mistakes.

There’s a great opportunity to learn from two seasoned attorneys specializing in occupational safety issues at Safety 2017, where during Session 761, Barry Spurlock, Esq., CSP, Eastern Kentucky University/Spurlock Law, PLLC, and Todd Logsdon, Esq., Fisher & Phillips, LLP, will be using polling technology to help us test our knowledge, and presenting hypothetical cases to help us hone our strategic thinking to evaluate current practices. “OSH professionals who attend this session will be able to articulate, with detail, how the recent developments with OSHA and employment law affect their organization,” Spurlock and Logsdon say. “And, they will be able to apply some fundamental strategies for minimizing risk with OSHA and employment law liabilities within their organizations.”
